In this article, we will be discussing different ways to copy content from inside a class to another class.

Note: See our Guide to Resources article for an alternative way to transfer class content.

How to copy an entire class's modules using Export

If you would like to copy the entirety of a previous class's content into a new class please follow the following steps. Please set up your grading categories in your new class before proceeding.

Note: If you would like to continue a course and only need to reference your previous class's material, see our Linking your previous grading term article for information on enabling this setting.

  1. Go to your previous class's modules page.
  2. Hover over the Export button at the top right and click on the Another Class option.
  3. Use the dropdown under Copy to location to select the desired class to copy the material to.
  4. Click on Next to move on to the next screen.
  5. For each grading category in your previous class select the new class's corresponding grading category.
  6. Click on the Make Copy button to begin the export. This may take a minute depending on the size of your class material. A spinning circle will appear next to the Make Copy button. Once it is done you will receive an alert stating so.
  7. Check out your new class's modules page to confirm everything copied over successfully.

How to copy a module or individual assignment

If you are looking to copy a specific module or activity to another class please follow the following steps.

  1. Go to the modules page of the class with the desired item.
  2. Under the Actions column, hover over the three dots next to the desired item and click on Copy to.... You can also right-click the item to bring up the actions menu for that item.
  3. If the item you are copying is a single activity, choose if you would like to copy both the content and settings, just content, or just settings. If you are copying a module skip this step.
  4. Select the desired destination class. Here you can select multiple classes. Do not forget to deselect the current class if you don't want another copy of the item in the current class.
  5. If you selected a single class you can choose which modules folder you would like to add the item to. If you selected multiple classes, the item will be added to the root of each class.
  6. Click Next to continue.
  7. Review and confirm your choices for the destination of the copy.
  8. Click Make Copy to finish. A copy of the desired item should now appear in the specified destination.
